korean invasion

After a day spent mostly sleeping (or trying to sleep) on Thursday (March 13), we went to Harbour Square in the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) complex. We ate at BRAD (Bond, Relax, and Dine)—in the patio seating area on bean bag chairs. Aside from us, there was only a Korean couple eating there. Koreans are a common sight in the Philippines these days. Many young Koreans stay here for an extended period of time, most to study English. Those two may be here for that reason.

In the next restaurant over—a Korean restaurant, I saw that all the outside tables were arranged in a long row. I thought that maybe a whole class of Korean students was going to eat there. My companion thought that it could be a tour group, too. I thought, why would Korean tourists eat Korean food when they’re in the Philippines? But my friend was right—the tables were set for a group of older tourists.
